Abstract: The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) considers that the adoption of a determinant policy to publish in fee-based open access journals will occur in medium term, taking into account exactly the aspects that influence the researcher to search for a particular publishing company for publishing his manuscripts. In this way, this study focuses on the analysis of the distribution of Brazilian scientific production, considering the publication trends concerning nationality, indexing and availability in OA, and comparing such elements among publications resulting from research - funded or not . Moreover whether FAPESP is mentioned by the authors in the article among the research funders, and the grant number is identified, the percentage of publication in Open Access was compared among funding modalities and area.
