Abstract: The thesis aims to investigate to what extent the Assyrian merchants living in Anatolia during the Old Assyrian period were influenced by local Anatolian religious customs. It does so by comparing the archaeological and textual evidence concerning the religious practices in the hometown Assur and in the Old Assyrian settlement of Kultepe-Kanesh.
