L'italiano pubblico e privato di Rubens attraverso le sue lettere

This thesis contains an analysis of the Italian private letters of Peter Paul Rubens, painter and diplomat. He also wrote 33 letters as secretary for Jan Brueghel, his friend and painter. These 33 have also been included in the analysis. Within these Italian letters the mother language of Rubens, Flemish, shines through. Through epistolary style, these Flemish characteristics in Rubens' language have been extracted and analysed if they can be retraced to Italian or Flemish. For reference of these Flemish characteristics, the letters in Flemish of Rubens have been analysed.
